Specifications
Target Information
Mouse Lamin A/C is a type V intermediate filament protein that forms a meshwork beneath the inner nuclear membrane, providing structural support to the nucleus and organizing chromatin. It regulates DNA replication, transcription, and nuclear shape, while interacting with transcription factors and signaling proteins. Lamin A/C is expressed in most differentiated cells, with highest levels in heart, skeletal muscle, and adipose tissue. Mutations or abnormal processing disrupt nuclear integrity, leading to mechanical stress and altered gene expression. As a key determinant of nuclear architecture and mechanotransduction, Lamin A/C is an important target for studies of aging, muscular dystrophies, and progeria syndromes.
