Target Information

Mouse inhibin α is a 26 kDa glycoprotein subunit whose N-terminal pro-region and three cystine-knot loops pair with βA or βB chains to form secreted inhibin A/B, antagonizing activin signaling via betaglycan sequestration. A solvent-exposed 14-aa "KVE" loop (aa 92-105) between the second and third cystine bridges folds into a β-hairpin unique among mouse TGF-β superfamily members, presenting a conformational epitope preserved after glycosylation and fixation. Affinity-purified antibodies targeting this loop trace native inhibin α in ovarian granulosa cells, testicular Sertoli cells, and anterior pituitary, delivering crisp cytoplasmic granules and single-band clarity on immunoblots with no cross-reaction to inhibin βA or βB subunits.
