Target Information
Rat lymphotoxin beta (LTβ) is a 33-kDa transmembrane cytokine belonging to the tumor necrosis factor (TNF) superfamily, predominantly expressed on rat T cells, B cells, and natural killer (NK) cells. It forms heterotrimeric complexes (LTα1β2) that bind to the LTβ receptor (LTβR) on stromal cells and immune accessory cells. This interaction regulates lymphoid organ development, maintains lymphoid tissue architecture, and modulates adaptive immune responses by inducing pro-inflammatory cytokine secretion and chemokine expression. Critical for organizing rat immune cell trafficking and lymphoid microenvironment homeostasis, it supports host defense against pathogens and contributes to inflammatory responses. As a key mediator of lymphoid tissue biology and immune regulation, rat LTβ is a critical target for studying immunology, inflammatory disorders, and lymphoid organ development.
