Target Information

Mouse Cytochrome P450 27B1 (CYP27B1) is a mitochondrial enzyme that catalyzes the 1α-hydroxylation of 25-hydroxyvitamin D to generate the active hormone calcitriol. Expressed predominantly in kidney, placenta, and immune tissues, it tightly controls calcium-phosphate homeostasis and bone mineralization. CYP27B1 activity is feedback-regulated by parathyroid hormone, calcitriol itself, and serum calcium levels. As the key activator of vitamin D signaling, CYP27B1 is an important target for studies of skeletal metabolism, immune modulation, and calcium-related disorders.
