Specifications
Target Information
Mouse Corin is a cardiac type II transmembrane serine protease that activates atrial natriuretic peptide (ANP) and B-type natriuretic peptide (BNP) by cleaving their pro-forms in cardiomyocytes. Highly expressed in the heart and kidneys, Corin regulates blood pressure, natriuresis, and cardiac hypertrophy. Loss or mutation of Corin impairs peptide hormone activation, leading to hypertension and heart failure. As a key activator of the natriuretic peptide system, Corin is an important target for studies of cardiovascular homeostasis, hypertension, and cardiac remodeling.
