Target Information

Rat podocalyxin (PODXL) is a 160-kDa transmembrane sialoglycoprotein enriched on the apical surface of renal podocytes. It maintains the structural integrity of the glomerular filtration barrier through anti-adhesive properties and interactions with cytoskeletal proteins. Expressed in rat tissues including kidney, vascular endothelium, and hematopoietic cells, it regulates cell polarity, migration, and tissue barrier function. Beyond renal physiology, it contributes to vascular development and immune cell trafficking. As a key marker of podocyte identity and a regulator of tissue barriers, rat PODXL is a critical target for studying renal disorders, vascular biology, and barrier-related pathological processes.
