Target Information

Motilin plays a crucial role in controlling gastrointestinal motility. During the inter-digestive state, motilin is released into the general circulation approximately every 100 minutes. It is the most important factor in controlling inter-digestive migrating contractions. It also stimulates the endocrine pancreas to release hormones. Promotilin is encoded by the MLN gene in pigs. Proteolytic processing of promotilin to motilin occurs at the sequence Lys-Lys.
