Target Information

O-Linked-N-Acetylglucosamine Transferase, encoded by the Ogt gene in mice, facilitates the transfer of a single N-acetylglucosamine from UDP-GlcNAc to a serine or threonine residue in cytoplasmic and nuclear proteins, thus modifying them with a beta-linked N-acetylglucosamine (O-GlcNAc). The functions of OGT in mice involve multiple fields such as cancer, cardiovascular disease, metabolic regulation, neurobiology, viral infection, and gene expression regulation. This modification can regulate cellular processes through interaction between glycosylation and phosphorylation or by influencing proteolytic processing. As part of the NSL complex, it indirectly contributes to the acetylation of nucleosomal histone H4 on various lysine residues.
