Target Information
Anti-Müllerian hormone (AMH), a glycoprotein hormone structurally akin to inhibin and activin within the transforming growth factor beta superfamily, plays a pivotal role in embryonic development. Specifically, it suppresses the formation of the female reproductive tract, also known as the Müllerian ducts (paramesonephric ducts), in male embryos. Consequently, it halts the development of structures such as the fallopian tubes, uterus, and upper vagina. Intriguingly, despite the absence of Müllerian ducts, AMH serves a reproductive function in at least some teleosts.
