Target Information
In mice, the function of Interferon Gamma Induced Protein 10kDa (IP-10 or CXCL10) is primarily associated with its roles in immunoregulation and inflammatory response. IP-10 is a chemokine induced by interferon gamma (IFN-γ) and is part of the CXC subfamily of chemical factors. It is crucial in various inflammatory and immune processes. In a mouse model of SARS-CoV-2 infection, IP-10 levels were found to be significantly reduced, suggesting its potential role in modulating the host immune response to the virus. Additionally, IP-10 is involved in other biological functions. For instance, in lung Clara cells, IFN-γ can induce IP-10 expression through direct or indirect pathways, thereby influencing lung inflammation.
