Target Information

Arachidonic acid (AA) is an essential fatty acid and a precursor in the biosynthesis of prostaglandins, thromboxanes, and leukotrienes. Arachidonic acid has a 20-carbon chain and four cis-double bonds. The first double bond is located at the sixth carbon from the omega end. In an ovine model, arachidonic acid stimulates maternal plasma placental lactogen concentrations but has no effect on fetal placental lactogen concentrations.
