Target Information
Transcription initiation factor TFIID subunit 12, known as TATA Box Binding Protein Associated Factor 12 (TAF12), is a part of the TFIID complex, crucial for the initiation of transcription by RNA polymerase II. This subunit helps in recognizing and binding to core promoters, either with or without a TATA box, through its association with the TATA-box-binding protein (TBP). This interaction facilitates the assembly of the pre-initiation complex (PIC). In mice, TAF12 performs a similar role as in humans, aiding TBP in promoting the formation of the pre-transcriptional complex.
