Target Information
Transglutaminase 6 (TG6) is a protein closely associated with the development and motor functions of the central nervous system. As a member of the mammalian TG family, TG6 primarily stabilizes protein complexes by catalyzing the post-translational modification of glutamine residues in proteins and peptides to form ε-γ-glutamine cross-links. In mice, TG6 is predominantly expressed in the central nervous system. Research indicates that TG6 is significantly expressed in regions such as the cerebral cortex, thalamus, hypothalamus, and basal ganglia, playing a crucial role in neuronal differentiation and development. During neuronal differentiation, the expression of TG6 is upregulated in neural stem cells and co-localizes with βIII-tubulin. Furthermore, TG6 exhibits a specific distribution pattern in the adult mouse brain, particularly in regions essential for regulating motor behavior, including the substantia nigra, globus pallidus, and cerebellum.
