Target Information

Signal transducer and activator of transcription 6 (STAT6) performs dual functions: facilitating signal transduction and activating transcription. It is integral to signaling pathways mediated by interleukin-4 (IL-4) and interleukin-3 (IL-3). STAT6 is pivotal in IL-4 and IL-13 signaling pathways, both essential for allergic reactions and immune response regulation. For instance, mice lacking STAT6 cannot produce Th2-type cytokines, such as IL-4, IL-5, and IL-13, nor IgE antibodies, underscoring STAT6's crucial role in Th2 cell differentiation and IgE-mediated allergic reactions. Furthermore, STAT6 contributes to the regulation of Treg cell generation and function, impacting immune tolerance. During acute inflammatory responses, STAT6 enhances anti-inflammatory processes. This includes the differentiation of M2 macrophages and the production of anti-inflammatory factors, achieved through the regulation of PPARγ (peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor γ) activation.
