Target Information

Laminin, by binding to cells via a high-affinity receptor, is believed to facilitate cell attachment, migration, and organization into tissues during embryonic development through interactions with other extracellular matrix components. Laminin Alpha 1 has several vital functions in mice, including roles in muscle development, basement membrane assembly, cell migration and adhesion, and its involvement in specific disease models. The laminin α1 chain is expressed in mouse skeletal muscle and can compensate for the lack of the laminin α2 chain. Research has demonstrated that introducing the laminin α1 gene into the skeletal muscle of laminin α2-deficient mice can completely prevent muscle atrophy and partially restore the normal expression of other laminin chains, such as α4 and s2.
