Target Information

Lysozyme is an enzyme with antibacterial properties that targets bacteria by breaking down the peptidoglycan in their cell walls. In mice, lysozyme is vital for immune defense and tissue maintenance. The mouse lysozyme genes are classified into two types, M and P, each encoding distinct lysozyme proteins. These two types are expressed in different tissues with varying biological roles; for instance, M-type lysozyme is primarily found in lung tissue, whereas P-type lysozyme is expressed in other tissues. Additionally, lysozyme may play a role in regulating bone development.

Target/Biomarker Mouse LZM
Target Synonym LYZ; Renal Amyloidosis; N-Acetylmuramide Glycanhydrolase; Muramidase; 1;4-beta-N-acetylmuramidase C
