Target Information

Lpcat3 is a lysophospholipid O-acyltransferase (LPLAT) that facilitates the reacylation step in the phospholipid remodeling process, also known as the Lands cycle. It exhibits greater activity for LPC acyl acceptors compared to LPEs and LPSs. In mice, LPCAT3 is crucial for the proper functioning of both the small intestine and liver. Deficiency in LPCAT3 results in impaired lipid absorption in the small intestine, lowered plasma triglyceride and cholesterol levels, and disrupted chylomicron secretion. Additionally, LPCAT3 regulates triglyceride transport in the liver by enhancing the secretion of very low density lipoprotein (VLDL).

Target/Biomarker Mouse LPCAT3
