Target Information
Kidney and brain protein, also known as Protein KIBRA, acts as a regulator of the Hippo signaling pathway, also referred to as the Salvador-Warts-Hippo (SWH) pathway. KIBRA enhances the phosphorylation of LATS1 and YAP1, thereby negatively regulating cell proliferation and organ growth by suppressing the transcriptional activity of YAP1, the primary effector of the Hippo pathway. In conjunction with NF2, KIBRA can synergistically promote the phosphorylation of LATS1 and LATS2, playing a role in regulating the Hippo signaling pathway. Research indicates that the absence of KIBRA leads to a marked decline in mice's performance in spatial memory tasks. For instance, in the Morris water maze test, KIBRA knockout mice have difficulty remembering the platform's location, exhibiting significant memory deficiencies.
