Target Information

Transcription factor JunB plays a crucial role in regulating gene activity following the primary growth factor response. In mice, JunB has a variety of functions, and its absence can result in several issues, including embryonic lethality, immune deficiencies, disorders of the hematopoietic system, and tumorigenesis. As a member of the AP-1 family, JunB is vital for embryonic development in mice. A deficiency in JunB leads to embryonic lethal defects between E8.5 and E10.5, mainly characterized by abnormal placenta formation and impaired angiogenesis. These defects stem from dysregulated expression of proliferation-related genes, such as proliferin, MMP-9, and uPA, in trophoblast cells, along with the downregulation of angiogenic factors like Vegf-1.
