Target Information
Propionyl-CoA Carboxylase Beta Chain, Mitochondrial is encoded by the PCCB gene in pigs. It plays a crucial role in amino acid metabolism. Specifically, it is involved in the conversion of ornithine to proline, a non-essential amino acid. Remarkably, it also performs the reverse reaction, essential for creating ornithine from the starting substrate proline. Research has shown that SNPs in gene PCCB is significantly associated with DLY pig meat quality or carcass traits.
