Target Information

Selectin, platelet is a cell adhesion molecule on platelets that helps them clump together and initiate blood clot formation. It is encoded by the sheep SELP gene. It is stored in platelet granules and can be rapidly translocated to the cell surface upon activation. It is an important adhesion molecule found in the secretory granules of platelets and the Weibel-Palade bodies of endothelial cells, and is mobilized to the plasma membrane upon activation.
