Target Information
Heat shock protein beta-6 is a small molecular chaperone that likely helps maintain denatured proteins in a folding-competent state. It has diverse functions across various biological processes. In muscle regulation, it is involved in smooth muscle vasorelaxation and cardiac myocyte contractility. It may also regulate myocardial angiogenesis, involving KDR. Overexpression of this protein contributes to cardioprotection and angiogenesis following induced damage. Heat shock protein beta-6 stabilizes monomeric YWHAZ, thereby supporting its chaperone-like activity. In the salivary glands of mice chronically exposed to methylmercury, the expression of heat shock protein β-6 was observed only in the control group, not in the exposed group, indicating its potential role in responding to oxidative stress and protecting cells from toxic damage.
