Target Information

Protein S100-A10, through inducing the dimerization of ANXA2/p36, may act as a regulator of protein phosphorylation since the ANXA2 monomer is a preferred target for tyrosine-specific kinase (in vitro). In mice, S100-A10 plays roles in various processes, including regulating endothelial barrier function related to pulmonary hypertension, potential association with depression, promoting tumor progression in several cancers, and a possible role in inner ear development. S100-A10 is primarily expressed in brain regions implicated in depression, such as the amygdala, hippocampus, and prefrontal cortex. Additionally, S100-A10 may influence the transport of 5-HT and the production of cAMP by interacting with 5-hydroxytryptamine transporters (5-HTTs) and 5-HT4R. During the development of the mouse inner ear, S100 protein is expressed in the cochlea and auditory neurons, suggesting a role in inner ear development.
