Target Information

Glutamate receptor 3 is an ionotropic glutamate receptor that acts as a ligand-gated cation channel, activated by L-glutamate and glutamatergic agonists like alpha-amino-3-hydroxy-5-methyl-4-isoxazolepropionic acid (AMPA), quisqualic acid, and kainic acid. In mice, Gria3 is involved in social behavior, neurotransmitter signaling, motor coordination, synaptic composition, and sex differences. Mice deficient in Gria3 (Gria3-/-/Y) exhibit increased social interactions and aggression. For instance, in isolation-induced aggression tests, these mice demonstrate more frequent aggressive behaviors, longer attack durations, and a higher frequency of attacks.
