Target Information

Gamma-aminobutyric acid receptor subunit alpha-1 is a subunit of GABA (gamma-aminobutyric acid) type A receptors, the major inhibitory neurotransmitter receptors in the brain. GABRA1 forms the core of the receptor and contributes to its ligand binding and channel gating properties. It is found on the postsynaptic membrane of neurons in various brain regions. It is encoded by the bovine GABRA1 gene. It is abundantly expressed in most brain regions.
