Target Information

Hemoglobin (Hb) is an iron-containing protein that facilitates the transport of oxygen in red blood cells. It is composed of four protein subunits, each containing an iron molecule. Hemoglobin binds to oxygen in the lungs and carries it through the bloodstream to tissues. It also helps transport carbon dioxide (a waste product) from tissues back to the lungs for exhalation. Bovine Hb can be used as a source for the production of hemoglobin vesicles.
