Target Information

B-cell CLL/lymphoma 9-like protein (Bcl9l) is a transcriptional regulator that functions as an activator, enhancing beta-catenin's transcriptional activity and playing a crucial role in tumorigenesis. It amplifies the neoplastic transforming activity of CTNNB1. In mice, Bcl9l serves several important roles, including the regulation of the Wnt/β-catenin signaling pathway, the promotion of tumorigenesis and immune response, and involvement in tissue development and embryonic survival. In the context of mouse retinal development, Bcl9l operates in a Pax6-dependent but β-catenin-independent manner. In cases of colorectal cancer, the loss of Bcl9l hinders tumor initiation and progression, and prolongs survival in mice with a liver-specific β-catenin mutation.
