Listeriosis is among the most frequently reported nervous system diseases in ruminants. Listeria innocua is genetically similar to L. monocytogenes, but it is traditionally regarded as non-pathogenic. This bacterium is widely distributed in the environment, found in ruminant farms and the food industry.
