Campylobacter sputorum is a nonthermotolerant campylobacter species mainly isolated from food animals like cattle and sheep. It is only occasionally linked to human illness. In 1953, Campylobacter sputorum subsp. bubulus was isolated from the vagina and semen of bovines.
