Target Information

Prospect Hill virus is a single-stranded, negative-sense, Hantaan-like zoonotic RNA virus that has been isolated from meadow voles, microtine, and other cricetid rodents in the United States. It has a wide distribution across Pennsylvania, Maryland, West Virginia, Minnesota, and California. Transmission to humans is thought to occur through the inhalation of aerosolized mouse excreta and, possibly, through contact with contaminated fomites.
