Target Information

Cortisol is a steroid hormone of the glucocorticoid class and a stress hormone. It is a crucial player in maintaining balance, but excessive or insufficient levels can impact the health. Its plasma concentration increases with disease-related stress. Cortisol and ACTH concentrations have been found to be higher in non-surviving horses and those with an ischemic gastrointestinal lesion. Cortisol receptors are present in most cells throughout the body.
