Target Information
Hsp70 proteins are key elements in the cellular network of molecular chaperones and folding catalysts. They facilitate a wide range of protein folding processes by temporarily interacting with short hydrophobic peptide segments within their substrate proteins. In normal equine corneas, baseline expression of HSP70 is observed in the nuclei of all epithelial cells and in the cytoplasm of the basal epithelium. In horses, changes in Hsp70 expression after acute exercise may be related to oxidative damage and inflammatory responses in muscle tissue in horses.
