Target Information

Interleukin-10 receptor subunit alpha is a cell surface receptor that interacts with the cytokine IL-10 to facilitate its anti-inflammatory effects, thereby preventing excessive tissue damage from inflammation. Binding to IL-10 triggers a conformational change in IL-10RB, enabling IL-10RB to also bind IL-10. In mice, IL-10RA serves multiple vital roles, including regulating macrophage function, maintaining intestinal homeostasis, modulating inflammatory signaling pathways, and influencing the intestinal microbiota composition. It is highly expressed in mouse macrophages, particularly under pathological conditions like pulmonary fibrosis and colitis. Research indicates that the absence of IL-10RA diminishes macrophage recruitment and activation, thus affecting their profibrotic and anti-inflammatory roles.
