Target Information
Docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) is a long-chain omega-3 polyunsaturated fatty acid that is a critical component of the lipid structure. It is essential for maintaining the structure and function of the brain and eyes and plays important roles throughout the body. In physiological literature, DHA is often denoted as 22:6 (n-3), indicating its 22-carbon chain length and six cis double bonds. It can be synthesized within the body from another omega-3 fatty acid called alpha-linolenic acid (ALA).
