Target Information

Bovine Breast Cancer Type 1 Susceptibility Protein Homolog is encoded by the BRCA1 gene in cattle. It plays a central role in DNA repair by facilitating cellular responses to DNA damage. It specifically mediates the formation of 'Lys-6'-linked polyubiquitin chains. BRCA1 contains a putative src homology 2 (SH2) domain and is partly homologous to the cell division cycle protein CDC48. It has been identified as a new candidate gene for bovine mastitis.

Target/Biomarker Bovine BRCA1
Target Synonym BRCA1 DNA repair associated; breast cancer type 1 susceptibility protein homolog; BRCA1 homologue; RING-type E3 ubiquitin transferase BRCA1; breast and ovarian cancer susceptibility 1; breast cancer 1, early onset
