Target Information

Collagen type VII is encoded by the chicken COL7A1 gene. It is the major component of anchoring fibrils. Each collagen VII molecule is made of three polypeptide chains that associate and assemble into a triple helix. Collagen type VII is a critical component of the epidermal basement membrane and is produced by keratinocytes and fibroblasts, and its production is stimulated by the cytokine transforming growth factor-beta.
