Target Information
Actin Related Protein 2/3 Complex Subunit 4 (Arpc4) is an actin-binding component of the Arp2/3 complex, which is responsible for mediating actin polymerization when stimulated by nucleation-promoting factors (NPF). The Arp2/3 complex facilitates the formation of branched actin networks within the cytoplasm, generating the force necessary for cell motility. Beyond its role in the cytoplasmic cytoskeleton, the Arp2/3 complex also promotes actin polymerization in the nucleus, thereby playing a role in gene transcription regulation and DNA repair. In mice, Arpc4 has various functions, including regulation of the cytoskeleton, modulation of immune responses, and involvement in tissue repair and angiogenesis. In mouse skin, the absence of Arpc4 results in an abnormal distribution of tissue-resident dendritic cells (MCs), evident by their irregular arrangement and increased clustering in the interstitial area. This observation suggests that Arpc4 is crucial for maintaining the normal structure and function of skin tissue.
