Target Information
Bovine Inosine Triphosphate Pyrophosphatase is encoded by the ITPA gene in cattle. It is a ubiquitous house-cleaning enzyme that specifically recognize deaminated purine nucleotides and catalyze their hydrolytic cleavage. ITPA hydrolyzes inosine triphosphate (ITP) and deoxyinosine triphosphate (dITP) to their respective monophosphate nucleotides and diphosphates. The enzyme also acts on other nucleotides, including xanthosine triphosphate and deoxyxanthosine triphosphate. It plays a critical role in maintaining cellular nucleotide balance.
