Target Information

Bovine Presenilin-2 is encoded by the PSEN2 gene in cattle. It is one of the three proteins that are dominantly mutated in familial Alzheimer's disease (FAD). PSEN2 plays a critical role in Alzheimer's disease pathogenesis. PSEN2 forms the catalytic core of the γ-secretase complex-a function shared with its homolog presenilin-1 (PSEN1). It is a transmembrane presenilin protein. The cow PSEN2 has a length of 449 amino acids.
