Target Information
Intercellular adhesion molecule 1 is a cell adhesion molecule expressed on various cell types, including endothelial cells, leukocytes, and epithelial cells. It can mediates cell-cell interactions, particularly leukocyte adhesion to endothelial cells during inflammation and immune responses. It is essential for leukocyte recruitment to sites of inflammation, but it is also implicated in autoimmune diseases and chronic inflammatory conditions. It is encoded by the sheep gene ICAM1. It may play a role in leukocyte infiltration.
