Target Information

Dehydroepiandrosterone (DHEA) is an endogenous steroid hormone precursor. In Yiling goats, adrenocorticotropic hormone (ACTH), which stimulates the production of adrenal steroids, and DHEA, a steroid hormone secreted by the adrenal glands, were both increased after castration. It is normally found in the form of dehydroepiandrosterone sulfate (DHEAS). The body holds DHEAS in reserve and converts it to specific hormones when needed.
