Target Information

Interferon alpha-1/2, produced by macrophages, possesses antiviral properties. It stimulates the production of two enzymes: a protein kinase and an oligoadenylate synthetase. The function of IFN-A1/2 (interferon alpha1/2) is mainly related to antiviral and immunomodulation. IFN-A1/2 expression is regulated by interferon regulatory factors 3 (IRF-3) and 7 (IRF-7).IRF-3 primarily activates the expression of IFN-A1 and IFN-B, whereas IRF-7 induces the expression of several IFN genes. The function of IFN-A1/2 is not limited to its own antiviral effects, but also includes the ability to enhance the overall immune response through synergistic interactions with other interferon genes (e.g., IFN-B).
