Target Information
Glutamine, the amide of glutamic acid, L-glutamine is a coding amino acid in protein synthesis, a non-essential amino acid for mammals that can be converted from glucose in the body. As a conditionally nonessential amino acid, it can maintain the acid-base balance of body fluids, promote nitrogen balance, and strengthen the mucosa and the integrity of the tight junction proteins. In a caprine model, research indicated that the addition of Gln can improve digestive enzyme activity, the ruminal epithelium's barrier, and fermentation and immune function by supplying energy to the mononuclear cells, enhancing the ruminal epithelium's morphology and integrity, and mediating the mRNA expression of tight junction proteins (TJs) and cytokines.
