Target Information

Surfactant protein B (SP-B) is an essential lipid-associated protein found in pulmonary surfactant. SP-B rearranges lipid molecules in the fluid lining the lung. This rearrangement allows tiny air sacs in the lung, called alveoli, to more easily inflate during breathing. Bovine Pulmonary Surfactant-Associated Protein B is encoded by the SFTPB gene in cattle. Research has shown that the expression of ERβ and ErbB4 stimulated Sftpb promoter activity.
