Target Information
Rhodopsin kinase GRK1 is an enzyme involved in regulating phototransduction, the process by which light stimuli are converted into electrical signals in the retina. GRK1 phosphorylates rhodopsin, the light-sensitive receptor in rod photoreceptor cells, leading to its deactivation and termination of the light response. It is encoded by the GRK1 gene in bovine. In rod cells of the vertebrate retina, rhodopsin phosphorylation is mediated by GRK1.
