Target Information

S-Phase Kinase Associated Protein 1 (Skp1) is a crucial component of the SCF (SKP1-CUL1-F-box protein) ubiquitin ligase complex, which facilitates the ubiquitination of proteins involved in cell cycle progression, signal transduction, and transcription. Within the SCF complex, Skp1 serves as an adapter, linking the F-box protein to CUL1. The SCF complex's functional specificity is dictated by the F-box protein, which acts as the substrate recognition component. In mouse liver, Skp1 also plays a role in lipid metabolism and cell fate determination. For instance, Fbxw7, a homologue of Skp1, influences the fate of hepatocytes by regulating Skp1 activity.
