Target Information
Gamma-aminobutyric acid receptor subunit gamma-2 is a subunit of GABA (gamma-aminobutyric acid) type A receptors, the major inhibitory neurotransmitter receptors in the brain. GABRG2 partners with other subunits to form functional receptors and modulates their properties, influencing receptor activation by GABA. It is encoded by the GABRG2 gene in bovine. GABRG2 variants may be major contributors to the epileptic encephalopathy phenotypes.
