Target Information

Bovine Hyaluronan Synthase 2 is encoded by the HAS2 gene in cattle. HAS2 is responsible for the synthesis and deposition of hyaluronan (also known as hyaluronic acid) in the extracellular matrix. Hyaluronan is a high molecular weight unbranched polysaccharide found in various organisms, from bacteria to mammals. It has been reported that HAS2 overexpression diminishes the procatabolic activity of chondrocytes by a mechanism independent of extracellular hyaluronan.
