Target Information
Cadherin-6 (CDH6), also known as K-cadherin, is a type II classical cadherin protein encoded by the CDH6 gene. It is a calcium-dependent cell-cell adhesion glycoprotein. It consists of five extracellular cadherin repeats, a transmembrane region, and a highly conserved cytoplasmic tail. CDH6 is a class II cadherin expressed primarily in the kidney and central nervous system. It is highly expressed in kidney tissue during embryogenesis, where it drives the mesenchymal-epithelial differentiation necessary for kidney morphogenesis.
