Specifications
Target Information
The mouse glutamate-cysteine ligase regulatory subunit (GCLM) is crucial for glutathione synthesis, antioxidant defense, and the onset and progression of various diseases. The GCLM gene is located in the chromosome 1p21-p22 region. GCLM serves as the regulatory subunit of glutamate-cysteine ligase (γ-glutamylcysteine synthetase), which is a key enzyme in the glutathione biosynthesis pathway. Together with the catalytic subunit (GCLC), it forms the GCL complex. GCLM influences glutathione synthesis by modulating the catalytic properties of GCLC. Its expression is regulated by multiple signaling pathways, including the activation of antioxidant response elements (AREs) like Nrf2 (nuclear factor Erythroid 2-related factor 2) and NF-κB.
